Can't wait to test it!
A native iOS remote app was really a missing thing.

Hi,
I really like your app.
However, I have a bug: the lines under Playing Now are not shown correctly.
Song title is correct and goes with cover but artist matches the upper song.
The following picture shows the problem (eg "Intro" is by M83):

I'd like to make a feature request: filter under Playing Now.

Thanks,

Sheugel

So this works through upnp as a controlpoint just like plugplayer but dedicted to the use with jrmc?
From the screenshots the interface looks much more clean and elegant then plugplayer.
Does it show our own view schemes or are the menus preset?

Yes it works as a remote control like plugplayer, but it can not play content on the device.

It will show you the view schemes you have customized under media network (except the home screen which is fixed)

Very nice app, thank you!  Looking for an alternative to PlugPlayer, which works well but has an idiosynchratic way of selecting items.

A few suggestions...

1. Instead of the Plus button to select an item, can this be done by a simple press on the item thumbnail itself. A double tap opens the folder but a single tap/hold pops up the Add menu whether it's a folder or a node item.

2. Instead of displaying items in a list with a lot of wasted space to the right, can you display slightly larger thumbnails in a grid (say 4 or 5 across)? I know you might run into problems with the length of the caption, but maybe the font size can be reduced if the text is too large to fit underneath the thumbnail.  Only display items in a list if the items are individual audio nodes (i.e. tracks) - the grid thumbnail display would be ideal for folders/containers and for photo and video items.  (I'm using the iPad version)

3. In Now Playing, can we have a slider control to show the current playback position and for seeking?

Totally agree on the PlugPlayer select method.

3 very good suggestions, I'll try to investigate the possibility of implementing them in a future release.

Before I spend $$ on this, does it work for pushing content to a UPNP device like the WDTV?  I don't want to control what MC is playing on the machine it is installed on, I want to control it playing to my WDTV.

Yes, it does, but then again it doesn't! I have a WDTV myself and have always used PlugPlayer to control it.

However MyRiver does not appear to be a UPnP/DLNA Control Point - it is indeed a remote control for MC. But remember that MC itself is a DLNA controller, this is why MyRiver requires DLNA switched on.  The WDTV, as with any other DLNA device, appears as a Zone in MC and this is what MyRiver sees, you can select whatever Zone you want to push music to (the local PC that MC is runmning on appears as Here).  MyRiver does indeed control MC but MC itself is controlling the WDTV via DLNA.

MyRiver appears to connect to MC via the web service in the same way as Gizmo, Webremote and Webplay and works in the same way as these interfaces. It does not connect via DLNA.

Thanks.  That is what I was asking, just not in the technically correct way.

How easy is it to control what zone is being played to with My River?  Right now we are using the built in web page access to select the zone and start the playback.  Not really 'wife friendly' if the zone resets to 'play here' instead of 'play to WDLXTV'.

In the main menu there is a Zone selection so you can easily select which zone you want at the start of each session. Yu can then go back and change the zone if you want.

Thanks, going to pick up a copy.

Feature Request:  Ability to set zone and have it 'stick' across sessions/reboots/etc. until changed (or at least until that is no longer a valid zone in MC).

It is already doing so in the current version, the selected zone is saved on the device.

Great App! Works like a charm.  I can't believe I've wasted so much money on Bitremote - hopefully you'll commit to continually developing this app and maybe in the future it will get a little faster loading a larger collection.  Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
A Happy Customer  ;)

Michael

I have an Ipod touch (V.2) with iOS 4.x so the OS requirement is met
but why does it need the Ipod touch (V.3) ??
Can this be changed?

I'm a little disappointed realizing this after buying but of course it's my fault for not
reading properly.

I'm sorry but I can't do anything about it, Flash Builder (with Air 2.7) has these requirements.
The requirements are listed here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-river/id467965691?mt=8

I would recommend you to claim a refund from Apple by using this tutorial:

Unfortunately, no :( but I will have a look at it.
Is it a shuffle of playing now or add as shuffled, or both?

If your looking for inspiration take a look at ipeng for iphone and ipad for controlling the squeezebox devices.
They are both very well done. Especially the iphone version.

Does My River control MC zones?  Didn't see that in the screenshots.  I'm trying to decide between Android vs. iOS for my next phone, and MC control is a major deciding factor.  Thanks for creating this app!

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice start. Thanks a ton!

I just bought your app and successfully paired with MC.  So far so good!   Buying the iPad version now.

Any chance you can implement the "jump letters" down the right side of the screen at some point?

I like the filter a bunch.  nice touch.

Thanks again.

I will play with the iPad version tonight.

i will put together something more comprehensive but I noticed a bug with the filter.  If you use the "hide keyboard" function on the iPad when typing in the filter, the filtered list disappears.

Hitting "done" works as it should

Would it be possible to add a few more options after the "double-tap"?

How about
"Play Shuffled"
"Play with Play Doctor"
??

Also, a "Playing Now" Button at the top of the screen, available at all times, would be nice.

Thanks!

This is looking really great Svend!

I am having trouble with auto rotate on my ipad.  It gets stuck in whatever orientation I first open My River in.  Playing now is always in Portrait? You may have discussed this before.

I second the request for playing now button always visible at the top.

Great work!

Michael

Michael,

Thanks for the quick response.  I can reproduce in the following fashion:
- In landscape open "Artists"
- Start typing "JOHN" in the filter.  As you type the backround starts populating.
- Then Hide the Keyboard before hitting "DONE"

thx!
-p

EDIT!!!!! - Ok I figured out exactly when it happens.  It erases the populating list if you hit the Hide Keyboard WHILE there is an auto-correct suggestion open in the filter field.  E.G. type "J-O-H" and when it shows "John" as an autofill/correction hide the keyboard.

Obviously this only applies to the iPhone app.

BUT I would REALLY like other buttons at the top of the iPad (and iPhone) Apps.

1) Artists
2) Albums
3) Playlists

Basically have the items in the "Home" screen available elsewhere as a button.   Is that possible?  It would have the same function as the buttons at the bottom of Apple's Remote app.

Thanks again Michael.

Loving gapless replay FINALLY with J River and a control point that isnt WebRemote.

Both versions will run on iPad's but My River for iPad has a split screen so that Playing Now always is visible.

Okay I found it in the App store.  You still have the iphone edition in the ipad section of the App store.  I didn't see My River for iPad.

Sure it is possible to add buttons, but I have to prioritize all the wishes  ;)

I can see the problem with autofill/correction, maybe I can fix it.

Thanks,
Michael

I've just downloaded the latest version and wow!  The tiled browsing with large artwork is brilliant, and the tap and double-tap are so intuitive.
Thanks :)

Thanks Michael.  It is not a deal breaker of course.  But I figured you might want to correct it if you knew about it.  The jump letters of course would basically make the filter redundant for me.  But I can see people using both.

3 Cheers to you!

I am interested in MyRiver and the essential feature I need is to be able to change and see the playing zone at the "playing" screen. Is it possible? As I only see a way to change it in the settings page and it would be unfriendly to always go to the settings screen to change/see the zones.

If this feature is not available yet, will it be available in the next version?

With ipeng for iphone you can swipe right from playing now to select players and left for the playlist. Maybe that could be a way to implement zones more accessible also in my river.
