Recorded TV plays back ok except there is no sound.

The same thing happens with the ATI A-I-W TV software.

Any ideas ?

Is your "Wave" audio channel muted?

Hi Yaobing;

Thanks for responding, I was wondering if anyone was looking at these out of the way threads since Jim moved them here; I know that I seldom look at them.  Most of the time I only look at the MC10 thread on a daily basis.

All channels are on & at full volume. That was the very first thing that I thought of.

TV recording has been like this for some time now but I seldom use it so it has not been of a very high priority. However, I would like to get it resolved as I can see the need for recording TV more & more as time goes on.

Hi Yaobing;

Just tried to record some TV for you but got an error message that sometimes comes up...

"RunCaptureGraph: Cannot start graph".

Have no idea what that is about; it does not always come up.

The recording portion of the program failed to run, possibly due to some resources not being available.

Finally got it to record but can't come up with a file of less then 2 MB due to the time it takes to select then deslect record.

Is there a hot key that I can use to stop the recording quicker ?

Ctrl+Shift+R for start and stop recording.

You may also need to use lower resolution such as 320x240.

The file you sent me plays silent on my machine too. It does have an audio stream, but it appearntly has no sound in it.

So, it seems that sound was not fed to the recording during recording.

A couple of things to look at:

1. TV Configuration/Audio/Check "There is a physical audio connection...", and select the correct audio line (Line-In etc.).

2. Sound card hardware and driver. Have you recently made any changes? Do you have SB Audgy? Someone had a similar problem which turned out to be with Audgy, which was fixed by updating audio driver. The problem may be that the channel name enumerated in one context (i.e in Audio settings mentioned above) is not recognized in another context (i.e. in recording).

Have you tried time-shifting? How does it work?

I re-installed all the Audigy software & now I have sound with TV recording.

Now I do not have sound from the FM radio using the record sound option.  I am using an ATI A-I-W 9600 Pro.  The radio plays just fine but won't record.

All of the mixer lines are turned on & at full volumn.

When record sound, make sure you select appropriate input source before you start recording. In your case you can select Line-In or Mixer.

Tools->Advanced Tools->Record Sound. The Title bar of the window should say which line you are recording from. Click Options, then Recorder, and set "Recording Source" to "Line-In".

Well... it already says Lne In but still no sound when recording from FM tuner.

Also, when I go to my Creative mixer & turn off the Line In check box the music stops playing through my speakers so they seem to be hooked up to Line In.

What I don't yet understand is if I can hear the FM music why does MC not pick it up ?

Am I missing something here ?
