Error playing files from Windows desktop
« on: January 31, 2004, 02:44:15 am »

I've noticed something strange has started happening with my installation of Media Center 9.1.316.

Media Center is associated as my default MP3 player.
However, when I double click on any MP3 file from the Windows desktop or Windows explorer I get an error message as follows:

Error restoring Media Center license:
Invalid file type (d:\mp3\filename.mp3)

Yet if I right click on the MP3 and select Media Center\Play, the song plays just fine. It also plays just fine if selected from withing the Media Center library interface.

I've double checked the file association for MP3 inside the Media Center options page and it's fine. Media Center also shows as being properly registered to me in the 'about' box, and I've updated to the current version using the web interface.

I've also uninstalled and re-installed, same situation.
I'm not sure when exactly this problem started, but I'm sure this feature used to work.

Any ideas on what's going on here?

Thanks,
Phil
