Adding Websites
« on: April 15, 2003, 03:20:14 pm »

I give up!  How do I add another website to the current list of three (the two Yahoo's and the TV Guide)?

I'm trying to get my daily weather fix!

Scott,

Follow these instuctions to add new web site to the list:
1. Open regedit.exe
2. go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox
3. Find entry called "TV View Websites" in the right part of RegEdit
4. Add new site to the list

Example:

Yahoo! TV;http://tv.yahoo.com|TV Guide;http://www.tvguide.com|Media Jukebox;http://www.mediajukebox.com

where Media Jukebox is the new web site.

Nikolay:  Thanks!  I should have thought to look in the registry.  But for some reason, changing the registry key seems to have no effect on the websites listed.  What could I be doing wrong?

Is there any move afoot to add the websites to an xml configuration document?  I'd imagine there are many people who would lack the courage to change the registry (although I'm not one!).

NoCodeUK:  You can toggle between TV and Web when watcing TV.  When watching a channel on the TV Tuner, right click and you'll see "Display" - choose between TV and Web.  There's also a button on the bottom left of the view window.  It says TV, but you can arrow it (right or left) to toggle to Web.

This is the answer to one of my beliefs that myHTPC was better than MC - when this is working, you can add websites to give you another source of "media".  I'm a big fan of Doppler Radar charts - now I'll be able to link to http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/radar/images/DS.p19r0/SI.kmux/latest.gif and get the latest.  But of course, there are many other sources of web-based media.

I'd also make a plug for a way for non-techies to make this change.  Most users of this program won't want to be (and probably shouldn't be) messing with the registry.

I still can't add or remove websites - even though I've changed the registry key, MC keeps the same old websites.

Is this a know bug?

Suggestion:  Why tie websites with the TV?  I'd think websites area just another source of multimedia content.  Well, I can see the tv guide thing and wanting to be able to switch between watching tv and looking at the tv guide website.  But then why not also add the websites as a button on the main Hairstyle?
