MC9.1 - Logitech 'Universal Scroll' not working
« on: September 03, 2003, 09:56:55 am »

New thread, as requested by JimH from 9.1.243 beta thread.

Logitech 'Universal Scroll' function has not worked in MC9.1 for many builds now (it did work originally).

I'm using Logitech Cordless Trackman FX with latest drivers / updates for mouse, XP, IE6, nVidia graphics.

'Universal Scroll' is set from Mouse Properties and can be assigned to any button to test - I assigned it to standard optical mouse and produced same results as for Trackman FX.

P.S.  9.1 is outstanding.   :)

I have found that with either the Logitech trackball or my Microsoft trackball, the scroll wheel will move the page as it should, but the 'universal scroll' does not work.
Universal scroll is where you can click both buttons (or click the scroll-wheel) and then by moving the trackball the page will automatically scroll in that direction until you release the trackball, and with variable speed based on the amount of trackball movement.

Thanks, that describes it pretty well.  The Trackman FX does not have a scroll wheel so I use 'Universal Scroll'.  There is an option to use 'Autoscroll', which I don't like - although this does work in MC.

'Universal Scroll' is activated by clicking button4 (in my case) and rolling the trackball.  Works for all apps except MC.

I have the same problem using a Logitech Cordless MouseMan® Optical mouse.
Scroll whee works as expected but universal scroll doesn't.

I have a Memorex Wireless Optical Scrollpro mouse, and the scroll wheel doesn't work either. I have not upgraded to 9.1 yet, so I don't know if 9 and 9.1 are having the same issues. I hadn't made a fuss about it knowing that upgrading to 9.1 might solve the problem. It seems that may not be the case.

Bump.

JimH asked me to start this thread, but no response from the MC team.  Perhaps it was missed?

It looks like "universal scroll" isn't made universal by the OS. (it works in IE for me, but not it lots of other standard windows controls)

It's probably too late to add this for 9.1, but hopefully in 10.0.

Thanks and hope you don't mind in the meantime...

Sorry, Matt, didn't see that post (no reply notification for some reason).

I only see the problem in MC + Mozilla.  Not a big deal, just a nuisance.

When is 10 arriving?   ;)
