DVD Playback Control Problems!
« on: October 20, 2003, 09:28:21 am »

Hi,

I've noticed that the slider for selecting the time in a DVD movie is not working properly.  I drag it out to the time that I desire and it jumps back to about 60% of my selected time.

I drag the time slider to 48minutes and it jumpts back to 30 minutes or so...57 jumps back to 38.

Is anyone else having this problem?

YES! I have the exact same problem! I posted it several times but never got a response from them.

You're saying the slider jumps backward to where you clicked, but your playback position is where you want it. Like the slider says 30 minutes, but you clicked 48 minutes, and you're watching at 48 minutes.

I"m not familiar enough with the DVD to know whether I'm at a location and it's got the wrong time.  Or if I'm selecting a location and it selects the wrong location.

Did some testing, I think that my problem is that I can't select the proper time with the slide bar.  I select a time and it either moves to an incorrect time, or completely ignores it.

No. When you first start clicking, it directs to the correct location. After a few clicks, the slider indicator jumps backward, but playback is where I clicked. If I continue moving my mouse to the right of where I last clicked (not where the indicator is), then it still plays the desired location, but the indicator is incorrect. Clicking near the indicate skips the playback to where the indicator seems to be pointing.

I'm looking into this problem and hopefully will have a fix soon. It looks like one of the newer directx methods may not be supported in some environments so I may have to use a backup method in case it fails.
