iRiver player problems

1. The option to 'start in last location' does not work if Audio filter is applied to the Media Library;  MC starts in the 'start' page instead.

2. MC10 will not play files from WMDM portable device if I double click them from within MC10 (Error message: MC cannot play files from this device).  However, when I click on the same file in Windows Explorer MC 10 plays it just fine.

3.  MC 10 doesn't read the tags correctly from WMDM iRiver (Artist, Genre, bit rate, etc.., are blank), while Windows Explorer displays the tag information from the iRiver correctly.

That is by design. MC does not store Media Modes, so on every restart it reverts back to All Media. That is by design, and unfortunately we will not be able to change this in the near future.

That is a limitation of WMDM interface. We will not be able to change that. But, you can play files from your removable drive if you access it through My Computer area in MC.

Drivers limitation. My Computer area will help.

In regards to the iRiver player, I need to try to find out if this works in Windows Media Player. You keep posting your bug and I keep asking the Windows Media Player question. If you don't know, please let me know that and I will quit asking. We do not have the iRiver you have to test. I installed new firmware for the one we do have and it is not recognized by Windows Explorer. Reading the tags is done through some standard WMDM code which Windows Media Player also uses, that is why I would like to know if it recognizes the tags so I can tell if reading tags from your player will be possible with the WMDM code which may not be what is implemented for tag viewing in Explorer.


In regards to playback, we cannot playback the files because WMDM devices do not return a physical path to the file which is necessary for playback. We may be able to hack something in to get this to work.

I am sorry, but I did reply in one of the previous threads .   I have uninstalled the WMP9 application and removed the executable from my computer.  However, the part of the player that is imbedded in Windows Explorer reads the tags just fine; and I can play iRiver files either through Windows/Internet explorer using the Media Bar, or MC10 will play the files if I click on them from within Windows Explorer.

Mike,

Thanks for the link.  I mentioned in another thread that I did the flash update for the 380T and it is not recognizable by Windows Explorer. We will have to get your player to try to sort out if we can support it.

Steve,

For the record, mkutsen's not alone. I also have the iFP-380T and would love to see support for it. Currently the only way I've found to use it successfully is with their software (the iRiver Manager). MC support would be the best, since I use MC to create the smartlist that I eventually transfer to the iRiver.
