New DSP: Tempo & Pitch Control
« on: May 11, 2004, 11:27:22 pm »

We've created a beta of a DSP component that does tempo and pitch control.

If you'd like, you can check it out here: http://www.monkeysaudio.com/mc/dsp_rate.mjp

You'll need to right-click, then "Save As" the mjp file, then run the mjp file after it's downloaded.

Enjoy :)

Cool, it works great! I haven't found any problems with it except that I don't have a use for it.  :P

Good job!

Why would I want/need to change the tempo or pitch of a selection? Just curious.

It's a good party trick, and it's handy when you are trying to learn a riff.

Also, speeding up the tempo is the only way for KingSparta to actually hear all his music this lifetime.

sometimes recordings are off pitch (like from tape, LP, 45 Etc)

it has also been been on the request back burner, as far back as MJ6 that I remember.

The link gives me an XML file. Double-clicking it will display it in my browser (opera). That's not what I want :D

So I downloaded the zip it points to, unzipped the .dll to the plug-in directory and asked MC to load it. Then, MC said it was an unknown type.

Any idea why it didn't work for me?

Follow Matt's instructions.  Right click the link and save as.  Then double click the downloaded file.

Very nice touch, thank you...handy, simple little utility.  I like the taskbar toolbar too.

Bug:

Every time a single mp3 is played, (i.e. nothing else in the 'Playing Now' list) MC crashes with runtime errors as soon as the track stops.

1st dialog box:
-----------------------------
MS Visual C++ Runtime Library
-----------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program:  D:\etc etc\Media Jukebox.exe

This app. has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the app. support team etc etc etc

=========

Next box::

The instruction at "0x63650b80" referenced memory at "0x3d24ee0". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program.

=========

Fix:
Deinstalling the 'Rate' plugin & restarting MC cured it, (plugin was installed but not used yet). Reinstalling Rate generated the crashes again. MC10.0.134, WinXPproSP1

Bug:

Time Display not working. The Track-Time just runs as normal in steps of normal seconds...

I saved and did run the mjp file as described, but I can't find it in DSP Studio. Or does it not work in MC 11?
