You can search for mp3 and see all the mp3 files on your PC.  If you click on one, it launches MC (assuming that MC is your default player for MP3).

Maybe MC should be invisible when this happens?  Or start a very small mini view?

I use Copernic Desktop Search instead of Google Desktop Search. It would be a great idea if MC could stay invisible when launching an mp3 file from Copernic.

I installed and uninstalled Google desktop search. Didn't like it much, too limited in its capabilities. Ran well though, no impact on my system that I could tell.

Related to the topic of how it could be used, I'd like to see MC have a toolbar view, you know, like WMP has. Just the controls, play, pause, next, previous, volume.

If that view launched for associated files, it would be nice.

YOu can get that with several minime skins. Just go to the Plugins website, and grab one of the minimalistic ones. I use lowerRight.

If you use Powerpro (highly recommended) then it is very easy to set up such a toolbar. I have one that is embedded in my taskbar.

FWIW - this might be a little simplistic:

It may not compete with Powerpros features (I havent checked), but there is a way of getting something like edbros picture of a Windows toolbar using mjextman commands. There was a thread about this quite some time ago - I guess GHammer and imjustagamer have been around long enough to remember it anyway and have already ruled it out.

As I remember it revolves around creating a folder of mjextman shortcuts and allocating those shortcuts suitable icons. I tried it once. It worked well as audio transport controls, but I cant see why it wouldnt work for whatever MC had in its library.

For clarification; There is more than meets the eye with the bar. I have since added a power button. Clicking it loads MC in std view, a right click on the button loads MiniMe view. Also, right clicking on the stop button pauses MC. I was trying to cut down on the number of buttons to keep the bar small.

By the way, this is extremely easy to do once you get to know Powerpro. I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination.  This is not programming. Look at the standard bar that loads with Powerpro and you can easily see how to do this.

There was a recent post that listed all the command line options for MC. I can't find it now.

Lee269, it is the mjextman commands that I am using. I can't find the post now that points to all of the commands but the post was in the last few weeks.

Yeah, but what Im saying is create a folder of shortcuts. Each shortcut points to a separate mjextman command - eg  play is 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\mjextman.exe /MCC 10000, 0' for me. Associate each shortcut with a suitable icon (I cant remember where I got mine), and create a new Windows toolbar based on that folder of shortcuts. You now have transport controls on the taskbar: StartMC/Previous/Play/Pause/Stop/Next/CloseMC/Rating/1/2/3/4 is what I have. This is certainly not as flexible as Powerpro, but its simple and requires no other software.

Anyway, Im meddling in stuff thats over my head I think.

True enough. But, I use Powerpro anyway and have for years now. With PP I have been able to dump my clipboard collector, macro tool, program launcher, notes tool, etc. Not to mention the fact that it does a whole lot more than that. I'm certainly not the author, just an avid fan. Besides, you can't beat the price ($0.00)!

I wouldn't bother.... I just uninstalled it.
