Lunatic Skins for MC 9.1
« on: December 09, 2003, 09:29:21 am »

There is not much more to say about it - it's just made to look as close to the standard Windows XP GUI as possible. Compared to a "normal" Windows application, there are three restrictions:
  • No "application focus": MC 9.1 will always look like an "active" application...by switching to another application/task, the "window bar" of MC will not "gray out". Maybe this will be possible with future versions of MC...
  • A skin can not really adapt to different fontsizes - this will shift some elements of the skin.

The "Lunatic" skins are optimized for 8 point if not described different.
  • A skin can not take over the colors from your windows setting...there has to be a different skin for every windows color setting. There are available these versions so far:
LunaticSilver

Zoom Picture -- Direct Install -- Download ZIP

LunaticBlue

Zoom Picture -- Direct Install -- Download ZIP

LunaticOlive

Zoom Picture -- Direct Install -- Download ZIP

The following variations will be available soon:

LunaticSilverFS - A version of "LunaticSilver" for fullscreen mode

LunaticBlueFS - A version of "LunaticBlue" for fullscreen mode

The Lunatic skins get even closer to the "original look" if you use the "XP-Icons 4 Media Center" fretwalker once created... you can get them here:

knicelfarz does it again :)  Now I don't need to worry about the loss of my Luna stuff as "the master" has re-done it for me.

Cheers Knickelfarz!!

Awesome job with this skin!  I was getting used to the default ones, but it's nice to have most all the apps look similar to the OS we've got.   8)

So what is this Matrix-Drawing "stuff" ?

Take a look at
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/DevZone/MatrixDrawing.html

I only used it for the <SCROLLBAR> "HorizontalHandle" and "VerticalHandle" so far, but it offers great potentialities for future skins  ;)

Nice work :)
The MC DSP effects might help a bit with the skin colour problem here?

Maybe matt or someone even could set it so MC detects the windows colours and automatically applies the correct shade to MC dsp to match the windows settings as a 'work around' no skin?

Anyway - looks great :)

Any chance of you putting together a close approximation of the Office 2003 theme?

OK, the blue one is online...

How about LunaticOrange? And LunaticFuschia? Are they on your To Do list anywhere?
I offered to make more color variations for WinDoze, but nobody seemed to be interested... but if there is a need for different XP colors, why not?  ;)
How does "Fuschia" look?

Any chance of you putting together a close approximation of the Office 2003 theme?
You mean "OfficeXP"? Mmh, looks simple, should be no problem. But I have some more skins to be finished (BlueSteel, Moooo and others...) and also have to take a look to make them suitable for MC 10, so it will take a while before I can start to make one...

Do you mean the "Track Info Template"? It's the one you can download from the "WinDoze" skins thread, I just changed the colors... If anybody is interested, I can post them...

No, sir...  Office 2003 offers a new theme.  I can post some screenshots if you'd like.  I know you can't exactly duplicate it (due to skinning limitations), but I think you might be able to come close.

I'm probably the only person who uses it, but I'd love a cool grey version of the fullscreen Windows skin. I tried changing it myself, but just ended up messing everything up. :)

You're going to do a Lunatic Green too right to match the last standard XP colour?
Because it's the colour I use :)

I'm still using Win2K, so I had to take a look at the PC of a friend... do you mean this "olive green" from the standard settings?

I always wondered how that color scheme ever made it past Microsoft's Good Taste department. They may as well have called it Vomit Green...  :-[

100% ACK... not even sure if they ever had a "Good Taste department"...  :P
But there is no accounting for tastes... Goo?  ;D

Anyhow, if you are really interested in Orange/Fuschia, can you post a screenshot?

1600x1200

I need it for designing with - a big screen is a necessity.

I'm working on a Sony Trinitron 21".

Got it for £200 from letsbuyit.com

I want something bigger but there's not much on the market much bigger and at all affordable :(

I'm glad it's at least this high a res. thou - anything smaller and programs seem to have no working space - it's all used on GUI parts etc.

lol - Thanks for that :)
Dreamweaver already has options to make the screen space any size.
So does Flash.

When it comes to designing my plugins thou I'm designing them to work great on a nice low rest of: 1600x1200 lol.
Everyone else just needs a bigger monitor (Sony have hired me to make everyone buy new monitors!)

Like this skin.!! Really cool

Can you do a Windows Marple version?

One little problem :
You need to close and reopen MC to have Action windows changing.
On MC 10-18

I also saw this sometimes, even transparency of icons (in AW and tree) is lost sometimes after switching skins. But it's not a problem of a specific skin, it's a bug of MC's skinning engine...

In your mouth ,next year sounds ok--not so far.
It would not in mine ,it would mean around september/october next [of your] year...
Anyway ,i wish you a very nice time for the next two weeks.

Do not know if it is something you can do ,but it would be nice to have all the windows now in white whith a ligth version of the green.
I mean to have nothing in white in the skin.

Concerning track info ,can you built 2 versions:
One with visualization , and one without.
So ,i understand that you will start to work on it as soon as hanghover gone? :-*

Again, have a good time
