Why no Find & Replace on Image File field?
« on: October 13, 2004, 05:50:36 pm »

In MC11, it seems I can do a "find and replace" on every data field EXCEPT (Image File) - the path to the cover art associated with an album.

Is there a reason why this field can not be edited, or am I just missing something?

yes, but it is top secret

at one time in version 9 it could be edited.

I have a plug-in that will work on this field, or it did at one time i have not tested it since i made it maybe 7+ months ago.

As many of us know MC can search and find cover art from the current cover art folder or from the file folder. As far as I know this works properly only when the tracks don't already have cover art field and if the filename is in the "Artist - Album" format in the cover art folder or if there is only one image file in the music files folder.

When a user just wants to globally move the current cover art files from a folder to another folder a complicated export/edit/import process is needed for accomplishing such a simple task, as this thread shows:

Actually, in my opinion the previous is all about very basic cover art handling. I have usually several cover art images for an album. E.g. front, back, CD, inlay, booklet, etc. So after I have ripped and scanned albums to MC I don't have to go to my CD self (which is currently in a storage room) for seeing the images and reading the printed information.
