Renaming and keeping Cover Art
« on: October 18, 2005, 10:28:17 pm »

I know that MC is not album centric… Does anyone have a better idea how to do this repetitive task.

At the moment I store cover art “Next to file ([Artist] – [Album].jpg)”.
And the directory rule is “[Artist]\[Album]”.

I want to edit the name of an album ( or artist ) and do so in MC.  Then I:-

1.   Right click, Update Tags (from library),
2.   Right click, Copy To Clipboard (first file),
3.   Right click, Remove Cover Art,
4.   Right click, Rename Files From Properties,
5.   Right click, Paste From Clipboard (image or URL).
6.   And then go and find the orphaned jpg and manually delete the folder ( and jpg ) from Explorer.

The must be a BETTER way to do this!!!

import your coverart and tag the files accordingly?
Not sure what you mean by this?  Do you mean get it right first time (!?)

Your second suggestion - the reason that I need to do it this way is for compatibility with other players.  Storing in a central folder will not work...  And yes, it is stored inside the file as well.  Again, compatibility...

If you like to handle your cover art location changes inside MC you need to import the image files to the MC library besides the music files. I use that system.

Since your cover art files are in the album folders you can import all jpg files starting from your base path and let MC add the artist and album tags from the folder paths.

After importing the image files you can easily select the cover art file together with the music files before making location changes. (Use the all media view instead of the audio only view.)

Thanks Alex, I will try a test batch of albums and see how your suggestion works.
