Split large audio files?

I saw one of the features of the new MC12 beta was to make it easy to split large audio files. I need to do that now. I have some large MP3's that I need to split into smaller tracks. Something ideal would be a program (free) that would display the file and let me place multiple cut points into the file and then click a button to automatically split the file into those tracks. Anybody know of a freeware tool out there that does this well?

There are several.

mp3DirectCut is one of the best: http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html

It can cut mp3 files losslessly without decoding and re-encoding. Though, the resulting files may produce small audible gaps on track changes if the original audio stream was continuous before cutting.

This experimental program can cut an MP3 file so that also the cutted files play gaplessly with MC11.1. A cue file that contains the cut points is needed - and perhaps an academic degree in computer science too (which I believe you have)  ;)

If you have a cue file, try this:
CUE Splitter

If not mp3DirectCut is nice to use.

No cue file here so I'll try mp3DirectCut. Thanks for the tips. Oh, and I do have a degree in Computer Science.  :)

Congrats! It's been years since I graduated from college (I probably shouldn't have admitted that) but what does 2:2 mean? Is that your GPA?

BTW, mp3DirectCut worked great!
