After yet more troubles with coverart and having to manually attach over 50% of my collection I have now found that many of my automatically attached ones where I used the “Find Cover Art from the Internet” option has many missing covers for just one song in an album.  Aside from going through the entire collection and checking every single file, is there a way to search and find all missing covers.  Also I am wondering why this happened in the first place, once I find the one song of an album that has a missing cover I use the same function within MC11.1.183 to find it, yet somehow it missed it the first time around, in fact every time I try this tool I get a different response, sometimes it cant find the most common covers, others it can.  I’ve already tried to get King Sparta’s utility tool for coverart find and it is no longer available to download.

Thanks for any help.

Create a smartlist and write this:

[media type]=[audio] imagefile=[] -[File Type]=[cda]

I've yet to deal with smartlists, what should I expect once I do this?  Will it return a list automatically that will tell me what files are missing coverart?

It's also a standard smartlist, so you don't even need to know the formula.

Just press F9 for "add smartlist" and then choose the SmartList rule: "Audio -- Task -- No images"

I actually thought MC created this automatically on install?
Maybe it was just an earlier version that did that...

I suspect that the "Create Stock Playlists" option also creates it.

When you select the playlist, it will show you all the files that don't have coverart, yes.

If you change the view to "album thumbnails", you'll have an easy way to set the coverart on an album by album basis, saving you having to select all the tracks in the album.

The smart list idea works well, thanks.  I found that my coverart directory is still a mess, doesn’t seem to matter what I do I can’t get any version of MC to keep the coverart properly.  I have specified a directory and now when I go back many covers are missing, they were there before but now they are a blank placeholder with no picture.  In addition, many that are attached to albums are not in this directory, nor can I find them anywhere, it is still a mess and always has been and I've tried everything suggested to keep it straight but to no avail.

Isn’t there a cover are directory cleaner utility, I seem to remember one in a earlier version of MC but I cant find it now.
