Focus problem in recent betas… just me?
« on: July 14, 2006, 09:26:53 pm »

Hi,

I recently updated from 11.1.148, to 11.1.186 and then 11.1.188 soon after and I've been having a problem in these last two versions where MC doesn't seem to get focused properly.

For instance, I'll be going along working in MC and I'll hit Ctrl-A for select all, and my computer selects everything in my web browser (or whatever window I was working in before MC). Also a lot of times the context menus will not pop up unless I click on a blank area of the desktop and then click back to MC. The same thing happens within input boxes or text fields... at times they will not accept any typing unless I click on a blank area of the desktop first.

Another thing that might be related… if I have a bunch of open, overlapping windows and MC is maximized but not topmost, normally you should be able to click anywhere on a visible part of the MC window to bring it to the top. This doesn't work — ever. The only way I can make MC top-most is to click its taskbar icon.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

I use NetRemote… could that have anything to do with it?

Hmmm... I've seen the same thing, and I'm a NetRemote user, as well. In addition, I've noticed that sometimes when I would expect MC to get the focus, NetRemote does instead, and comes topmost.

I use Netremote on a Pocket PC, so for me it is just Media Bridge running on the PC side, but it does sound like there is a connection to this problem. So who do we report it to... J River or Promixis?

I'm also seeing some focus wierdness if the Netremote Mediabridge starts MC.

If I start MC first and then run Mediabridge, MC will not terminate completely when the app is closed.

Anyone at J River know anything about this?

MC 11.1 has been out of Beta for quite some time. The last update was 11.1.188.

It sounds like you're having an issue with Netremote.

Thanks, you could be right.

I was hoping to hear something from from J River, since these problems didn't exist with MC 11.0.   I forgot to mention this in my post.

So something's changed between MC 11.0 and 11.1 - Which end is causing the problem is still unknown.

Ah. I just assumed that it was still in beta since I never saw a final release announcement in the forum. Anyway, the problem didn't appear until I went from 11.1.148 to 11.1.186.
