YADB Individual Track Improvements
« on: February 22, 2007, 03:44:13 pm »

I've installed an improved version of the YADB individual track lookup on our server.

The improvements are:

1) Allows updating of information (the old one didn't at all).
2) Uses a better algorithm for identification
3) Reduced number of duplicates

Please post any issues you have with this.

Thanks,

j

Hi!

I've tried some lookups, but haven't had much succes. Bad Religion - Recipie for hate is successfull, but it fails on both Beck - Looser and Bob Dylan - Hurricane. This was rigth before 23.02.2007 12:16 +1 gmt.

How does it try to match? Which columns should/may be used?

What may it fill in? It did not fetch album art for the one (recipie for hate) track it found. I see that album, genre, year, track is filled in. Is there anything else?

Just ignore my last question. Got it confirmed in the wiki. But i am still a bit curious how it matches? Is it length and some kind of an audible comparisation? Initially I thougth it maybe just used the name and artist fields, but on the wiki it says it needs to be able to convert into wav...

It can only find what's in the database, so if you have well tagged tracks, please upload.

The match is based on a mathematical representation of the first few seconds of the song's sound.

I actually tried a bit after to upload the song (after tagged it correctly) to yadb, but it gave a failed update for some reason...?

It might have something to do with the security settings here at work, so i'll try later at home as well.

Some of the most recent beta builds (171 through 176) had a bug in the upload code.  I believe the public builds are all OK.

I'm not one of those happy campers in the beta team ;)

I am currently running on 164, the latest public build.

Try again, note the time, and the data already there for the track (title/artist/album), I'll take a look...

Just tried another fetch on the Beck - Loser, without success. Also tried to submit it, with same result. Did it 23.02.2007 17:37 +1 GMT.

But i am going home from work now, so I might just get to try it on a computer without the proxy hassle i have at work... But beeing friday, my better half migth require some attention. I'll se what I get to do:)

I saw the lookup and submit in the log, both claimed success. Can you be more specific about how it isn't working? What's the dialog box saying?

I just did a massive cleanup on the server (removing all the stuff that referred to the old way of doing CD and individual track lookup).
I've tested it, and it seems fine, but please post here if you notice anything strange going on.

Very strange, your requests from work made it through, but the responses didn't make it back. Glad it's working at home...

ive never had any luck with YADB, quite frustrating really, it's about the only gripe I have with MC. I dream of a day when FREEDB is implemented into MC. A 3rd party plugin maybe?
