Pitch Adjustment Problem in Media Center 13 and 14
« on: September 08, 2009, 05:37:50 pm »

Ever since Media Center 12 I have not been able to adjust the pitch of audio to exactly -.5.  I use this to alter songs for guitar playing, where as -.5 is a half step down in tuning.  Anyways by navigating to (Tools>Options>Playback>DSP & output format>Tempo & Pitch>Pitch) you have the option to adjust he pitch by .01 in MC12, but in MC13 and 14 it has been changed to .04, which prevents you from adjusting the pitch to exact specifications.  At least this is a foremost complaint, but any input or solutions would be helpful.  Thank you

[...] upgrades to the music features in MC that would have broad appeal to music centric users.
Please suggest a few.  We scratch our heads daily about this.

+1 for this. Also the tempo control is very imprecise because of the big steps of 0.6. For dancing lessons a detailed control would be much better especially because big steps (+/-0.6) are always noticed by the dancers.

In a coming build:
Changed: 'Tempo & Pitch' DSP uses 0.05x steps (previously used much larger steps).

Maybe I was to fast with my previous post  ;) actually the step for pitch is 0.04x (=smaller than the new one) and for tempo 0.06x. No big change and especially not "much larger" before...

We can dial in any increment users like.  It feels about right to me at 0.05, but try it once the build is available and let us know if it's still a problem.

The new steps are small enough! Thanks again!

One Bug:
If I change tempo, the trackvolume sometimes changes. It looks, as if other DSPs (as equalizer or volume leveling) are kicked out for a short delay.

One Request:
Is it possible to get a MCCCommand for tempo/pitch?
