Why the cover view is called cover view?
« on: July 07, 2010, 03:04:08 am »

Basically, the cover view is a full screen view that hides main toolbar, windows form title, and the tree.

It can show "covers", but can show images, panes, or any thing that Standard view shows. So... Why it is called "Cover view"?

I think a more natural way to access this "view" would be using a button in the right-top corner (a button like the "close", "maximize" and "minimize"). It could be called "Full screen".

Actually, I've found an issue while playing with "view" and with "windows state" . I am not sure if it is a bug or a feature. But I think is weird and unnecessary.

The attached image shows a state where "Cover view" is on, and form is "Normal" (not maximized). Were you aware of this "functionality"?

Could you provide step-by-step instructions to reproduce the bug?

Thanks.

Yes.

I just open "Cover view", from menu.

And click the button called ¿normalize? in floating "MC header"... Better, look at image:

BTW, what about the name? Why is it called "Cover view"? It can show anythihng, not just covers...

Ups.. Sorry... english is not my first language (and neighter the second one), and it's sounded weird to me... I expected "full screen" or something... Never mind.

I also suggested to access into "Cover view" using a button like the "maximize button"... What do you think about that? Does it makes any sense? After all, "Cover view" seems just like "Standard view" but in full size...

Got it.  Thanks.  Coming in build 74:
Fixed: Cover View would incorrectly show a maximize / restore button in the popup player at the top of the screen.

Niebla, don't apologise - marko's post was a joke, I think. It's called a 'play on words', and English is arguably the best language for that type of humour.

I think Marko was quoting me.

For me, the question is a little like asking someone why they called their kid John.  We made it.  We named it.  I think that about covers the subject.

It's more like you're calling someone a John when you're actually referring to a prostitute. It's confusing. ;)
