Is anyone seeing any issues with recent builds of MC and the free download of Microsoft Security Essentials?

I've been having issues with my machine slowing way down, with MC using huge amounts of processor resources (50% and up while idle), inexplicable hangs, and crashes galore.

It finally dawned on me that one of the newest items I had installed was MSSE. Disabling the 'real-time protection' feature seems to have stabilized MC's performance.

Any thoughts from the group?

I use MSSE and I exclude the different MC-related EXE files from scans.  After that they behave nicely together.

I saw a MC slow down after installing MSSE, then the problem magically went away. Nevertheless I followed Glynor's tip and excluded MC's exe's from MSSE.

I'm running both and excluding nothing.  No issues.

I use MS Security Essentials on an XP PC with MC 15 present.  I had some issues with a variety of programs but not with MC.  Once I turned off real-time protection, there were far fewer problems.

I have found that turning off real-time protection (scanning all files that are opened) has been effective in reducing audio glitches from Anti-Virus software.  (for Norton, AVG and MC Security Essentials.)  This change also makes my PCs more responsive in regular use.

Well, excluding Media Center 15.exe, JRWorker.exe, and JRService.exe seems to have help my situation immensely. Excluding those 3 programs and keeping 'real-time' monitoring turned on seems to have restored MC to normal resource usage.

I've seen a massive improvement since moving to Security Essentials 2.0 beta. Haven't excluded any of the processes.
