FireWire channel changing?

Is this possible to do provide you have the proper firewire drivers installed for your stb box? I would be doing it with a hauppage hd pvr capture device.

It could be possible if you add an option to run a command line program (with the channel number passed as a parameter).  This could open a world of possibilities, not just Firewire but HTTP tuning for DirecTV folks, USBUIRT for those w/o an WMC blaster, etc.
