volume control - network renderer
« on: May 11, 2014, 10:24:53 am »

I have a CP800 from classé which is on the DLNA network.
i tried to control the volume on the CP800 from the volume bar in MC and I had an explosion of the volume up to 100% of the amplifier!
is it possible to remove this option?
by the way this is dangerous for the ears and the equipment also.
i am not able to go to the volume mode which I would like to disable as the menu indicates to go the DNLA server in 'options' which does not show it.

Weird.  It is there for me.  What version of MC are you running?

Try Tools -> Options -> Audio -> Volume -> Volume Mode -> Disabled Volume

I'm not sure that this is an option for DLNA.
If it is not responding to standard DLNA volume controls, I would take it up with the manufacturer.

It sounds like the device only supports volume controlled by DLNA at levels of 0 and 100. Essentially on/off.
It seems like the renderer should ignore the volume control function in this situation and support the mute on/off instead.

I have informed Classé of this, but it would be good to see if something is on JRiver side also....

Download the UPnP developer tools from here http://opentools.homeip.net/dev-tools-for-upnp and run the Device Spy application and observe what happens when you call the SetVolume method on your renderer whilst it is playing something from MC...
