Author Topic: Server DSD Bitstreaming, client with PCM to DSD enabled = impossible?  (Read 3155 times)

Currently I am using PC1 with media files (FLAC and SACD ISOs) and JR as DLNA server.
Teac UD-501 connected to PC2 with JR too. By default I have PCM to DSD128 (DSD native ASIO) enabled.

As I would like to have gapless playback, I use PC1 to push the FLAC tracks to PC2. They are played as DSD128, great.

However, when SACD tracks (DSD64) are pushed from PC1 to PC2, they are sent to PC2 as DoP files and hence PC2 converts them to DSD128 again and hence playback failed.

Is this by design? Any chance to be fixed in upcoming MC19 or 20?

Thanks.

I admit, it's not what you have asked for, but I have connected my Teac UD-501 via USB-to-Ethernet adapter (Silex SX-DS-4000U2), so it's available for every PC in my homenet.

That way I run MC on my fileserver and send everthing directly to my Teac, works really fine for me  ;D

Why does playback fail because it's converting to DSD128?

Why does playback fail...... because simply PC2 is converting DSD64 to DSD128 by treating the DSD64 as PCM.
