JRiver on Ubuntu: DLNA renderer not detected
« on: November 28, 2014, 10:13:03 am »

Guys,

I have MC running on ubuntu 14.04. I also purchased the 3D Lab Nano Transport for usage as DLNA renderer. However, the Nano is not detected in MC on linux, so i'm unable to stream my music to it. When enabling DLNA server on my windows MC it immediately appears in MC and i can play streams etc. So this looks like it is linux related.

Please advice?

DLNA works in the Linux version.

Did  you turn on Media Network?

Firewall?

Output from iptables:

 sudo iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination

So i don't think it's a firewall issue

After having tried all options i can confirm the following:

- the Nano transport is not found within MC on linux
- as soon as i start a windows 8.1 enterprise VM the Nano transport appears in MC and i can play media to it. To confirm; it appears in MC on linux. I don't have anything installed on the windows 8.1 VM, this is a out-of-the-box clean install
- after some minutes the Nano disappears again when idle / not playing.
- the only way i can bring it back is to disconnect the network of the windows 8.1 VM and reconnect it again. After some seconds it appears again in MC on linux

So this looks as the Windows 8.1 VM is broadcasting some on the network which triggers the Nano or MC to identify themselves.

What could this be.. On MC on my windows workstation the Nano appears always and stays available all the time.

As an addittion: Last night i started to stream a radio channel to see if the player keeps visible in MC on Ubuntu. This morning the stream is still playing fine but i don't see the player listed in MC..

Fixed. my switches had igmp-snooping enabled. After disabling igmp-snooping for the vlan where my DLNA renderer is located it appeared automatically in MC and stays there.
