This is a preliminary report, subject to change or additions. Last UPDATE to this report made 1/6/04

The problem occurs when installing the user portion of Pro on a computer with an XP or Win2000 operating system.

UPDATE:
If ICETCP Pro was initially installed while logged in as a "limited user," or you are unsure how the program was installed, then do the following:
1. Log in to an account with administrator privileges.
2. Reinstall the user portion of ICETCP Pro (as an admin user).
3. Run ConfigWizard again (as an admin user; EVEN if ConfigWiz ran previously without errors.

If you have followed the above steps and the TelenetPro still does not connect, proceed with the following:

When running ConfigWizard, either an error occurs when trying to obtain a sequence number, or the box to "obain a sequence number" is grayed out and cannot be checked.

Under such circumstances, trying connect using the TelnetPro will give an error, with instructions to "Run ConfigWizard"

The problem occurs because the ConfigWizard program does not have permission to write to a specific place in the computer's registry. [NEW] The problems appears to occur if the Win2K or XP has ever been installed with a pre5.0.81 version (even if the older version has since been uninstalled). In this case,  ConfigWiz can't run even under a User with full Admin privileges.

WARNING: Currently, the only instructions available to verify and resolve the problem involve using regedit to access and modify the registry. DO NOT ATTEMPT the procedures below unless you are familiar and comfortable with using Regedit. Improper use of Regedit can damage your operating system.

Verification:
Run Regedit and open the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\J. River
This folder should contain a folder called ICE.TCP
If it doesn't exist, try creating the folder under J. River. If the system does not permit you, then ConfigWiz also cannot, and the program can't run properly.

Remediation:
Right click on the J. River folder (in Regedit) and change the security settings for the folder so that the user you wish has full access. You may need to be logged in with Admin privileges to do this.

Try running ConfigWizard. If there is still a problem, go back to Regedit and create the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\J. River\ICE.TCP\5.0\License
 and make sure all applicable users have full rights to the "License" folder (and all folders above it).
