I cannot find the way to display local and mapped drives on the left hand pane, so we can transfer from Unix on the right to windows on the left.

That's not the way ftp pro works. What you do is drag and drop to/from the unix window from either your desktop or a windows explorer window. Ftp pro is emulating a windows explorer window.
