moving licenses
« on: February 12, 2005, 12:53:29 pm »

I have moved the license files etc..everything comes up but I need to test the connection to the new server before I shut down the old one.  Is there anyway to do this??  I try to log on to the new one and gives me an error connection refused.  Reason is I have 30 users on this at anyone time...so can't take it down not even off hours..

The license server is STATIC. Once a PC has a sequence number it doesn't need to see the license server. If you run licenseadmin on the new server and see the users you should be fine. The only reason you'll use the server again is when you add a new client PC. In that case the TCP5_USER directory on the new licenseadmin machine needs to be shared full control (writable) for all to do a network install to a new client PC.

Your comment abount "connection refused" doesn't make any sense to me. Connection to WHAT? You don't telnet to your license server! You telnet to your application server!
