License Server Move
« on: January 10, 2008, 09:56:21 am »

We run ICE/Tcp 4.4 on all of out clients.  The licensing server is move to a new server/new OS.  My question is - what will the clients have to do once the server is moved?  Will they have to run config wizard and point to the new license share?

If you move the license folder from the old server to the new server, your users won't have to do anything. The licenses are static so the PC's don't contact the server once they have a license. Don't forget to remove the data and share from the old server once you move it to the new server so you don't end up with 2 license servers on the same network.

That's odd.  I thought that the clients did contact the license server.  I know that my license server has been down before and ICE/Tcp would not start for the clients, but once the license server came back up, they could connect.

That must be a coincidence. Perhaps your server was giving out DHCP addresses or affects the routing somehow...
