I have installed tcp pro and my server is Linux.  I chose the terminal settings of Linux 24 and 25 lines.  The screen doesn't look right with either.  any Suggestions.

Linux is normally 25 lines.

For some odd reason some versions of linux don't do the terminal escape sequences right when the locale is anything other than C.

I believe the command is:
export LANG=C
Check your current setting by doing a
env
from the command prompt.

This seems to be a telnet only problem. If you connect with ssh you might be OK.

Is there away to setup per user and not for the entire system?  Also, when you said to use ssh instead of telnet, I tried to set the settings on tcp pro to use ssh but it still shows telnet when I enter or if i select ssh it just hangs up.  any suggestions?

To set it for individual users, just put the command in their .profile (or .bash_profile) in their home dir on linux.

Are you doing edit host list to set the host setting to ssh? If so make sure the port is set to 22 (or whatever other port your linux server is set to). You may have to configure ssh on linux if it's not installed by default (this differs from one distro of linux to another).

I have tried the .profile and the .bash_profile files adding the entry and neither one has changed the screen.  Also, in the application, it will not allow me to change the port to 22 but the ssh is on the system setup as 22. 

I'm only seeing that the menu after I get logged in looks funny.

It's definitely still the locale setting.

When you changed it on the command line did it work?

Also, to get in with port 22 and ssh, first put a host in the host box then change the port box to ssh or 22. When you connect you'll get that as an option next time in the edit hosts dialog.

I have tried all that was suggested and it does not work.  any other suggestions?
