I'm running DejaVu TCP Plus for Windows:
Build 25
Emulation Version: 7.10a/32
Windows Interface Version: 8.5
The user is is first connecting to the network on a VPN. The laptop keeps giving us a Black screen with an hour glass everytime she tries to startup Ice TCP Plus.
Anyone have any ideas? Please let me know if there is any information you need.
This one has boggled me, as this is the first problem i've ever encountered with ICE Tcp Plus.
Regards,
Jon

You may be seeing the same problem as here:

Thanks for your quick response Bob!!!
do you know if there is a cost involved? or what exactly i should ask for when calling the number?

Jon

Oh one more thing, the weird thing, is that when the user is in her office on the network, ICE TCP comes up with no problem.

Sorry I don't know if there is a cost. You should refer to the patched version referenced in that link.

That could be simply because there is a different set of installed apps but it could also be that the telnet access to the unix box via the vpn isn't configured on your firewall (wherever that is).
You could test this by trying to connect over the VPN with Microsoft Telnet on that same remote PC (start->run-> telnet 1.2.3.4) where you put your unix server IP in place of 1.2.3.4. If that doesn't work, the patched PLUS won't do you any good, your problem is firewall related.

Hi Bob,
I tried to telnet into the unix server and we were able to get to the:
"SCO OpenServer(TM) Release 5 (bsa.net.com) (ttyp4)" login prompt.
Should I try and acquire the patch? the part that boggles me is that when the laptop is in our offices and connected to our network, Ice TCP runs like a charm. And for the rest of our VPN users, ICE TCP works with no problems.
Any ideas?
BTW, thank you so much for your help, you've been amazing!!
Regards,
Jon

I think the patch may require build 27 or newer.
-
Do you think it's an issue with Win XP SP3 and build 25?

No, I'm running SP3. The problem is with particular programs that are blocking on a global font change notice.

Hmmmm ok, I checked for the patch version on the link that I sent you, but I did not see it there. Can you please forward me the patch version info? Do you know if there is a way around this since we have multiple laptops with the same setup where ICE works in the same environment.

Please contact me at 612-677-8202 with your serial number information for your TCP PLUS. I can then send you the patch to try. We are not certain that it will work with Build 25, but you are welcome to try it.

Hi we get the same issue but on Windows 7 32 bit with nothing else on it. Just MFG and its still goes non responsive. The funny thing is this only just started happening and all other windows 7 machines are working fine for now...
Can someone mail me a patch as we have done a lil testing for you guys before
Cheers
G
Oh and if you give them domain admin rights it works... domain user it doesnt ..

The problem also affects your latest edition .. it has to be a windows update etc
Ok further update cant be anything to do with windows updates or office 7 etc
Tried our ICE On a blank laptop with nothing but windows 7 on it and still wont work. I wonder now if our install folder is corrupt in some way we use build 21 dont suppose you could fling us over a zip file could you to test my theory

The patch is not a part of the trialware. We can e-mail you the patch to try with the trialware, but we do not expect the patch will work with your older build.
-
Ok so are you releasing a patch for this ?
I think I have found the problem and the solution but it may not affect everyone.
If anyone gets this black screen look to see if net.exe is in task manager. Kill it and ICE will work again
-
I don't think you should kill net.exe. It's the control for all of the networking on the computer. If you had to change a network parameter after killing net.exe you'd probably get a failure.
Did you try the trialware with the patch?
Try disabling IPV6 (a wild guess).
