Title: Error 777 Sequence # conflict
Post by: dexters on May 18, 2004, 02:36:49 pm
Hi,
Thanks in advance for your help. Have Ice.tcp.pro Version 5.1. Have 16 Lic. only using 13. Getting "fatal ice.tcp.pro configuration error 777.
This message was generated due to a conflict between 192.168.10.40 and 192.168.10.6 with sequence number 1."

Have removed one of the users from lic admin and removed software on workstation. Reinstall on workstation and added  user back in lic admin. This one assigned seq. #3.
No luck!
Any ideas?
thanks

Don't manually use licenseadmin to put in users.

Instead, from each client machine BROWSE to the TCP5_USER share on the license server machine and then into TCP-PRO and run configwizard.exe to get a sequence number. You only need a sequence number, not a configuration profile on an existing installation. If you are running the classic (4.4) client instead, go into the TCP4-32 directory and run configwizard44.exe.

Why shouldn't you manually use licenceadmin to add users?
I have used both methods in the past (manually and with config wiz) and both have worked fine but if done manually i dont have to open a share with write permissions.

Because it's easy to make a mistake adding the users manually. If you can add them by running configwizard you will get the proger entry in the table. Since you have to run configwizard anyway to get the sequence number from the licenseadmin you don't gain anything by adding the entry manually.
