Title: Annoying beep
Post by: saunaking on August 24, 2004, 07:35:54 am
I have ice 5.0.80 installed on NT4 workstation.
When the user is in ice and presses a button they shouldn't press (for example exiting out of a field without filling in a value) ice makes a beep sound.  This does not happen in Win98 or WinXP.

This beep does not come thru the speakers or sound card - it occurs on computers without speakers.

How can I disable this?

Go to your sound control panel and remove the sound for "iconalert"

There is no 'iconalert' sound in the control panel but i did remove 'Default beep' and every other sound but the beep still happens.  I don't think it is a windows thing but i could be wrong.  It is something like the beep you hear a second after you turn on the computer.

I am checking with the application vendor to see if they can remove it from the actual appliation but am not sure if that is where it originates.

Sorry,
the sound at OS level is called "exclamation". Turning it off works fine for me.

put some caulking in it and can't hear a thing now.
