Title: ICElp Printing
Post by: bdoubtfire on February 02, 2005, 06:24:33 am
Hi,
I have a client (who thinks he's on ICE TCPPro 4.4?).  He is getting an error (missing language dll) on startup, ICElp is set to run on startup.  This seems to be causing occasional printing problems. the missing file is en.dll.  Does anyone have any ideas as to whther this file will cause major problems, whether it can just be copied to his PC or whether it's just a case of re-installing from scratch?

Any help much appreciated.

I believe it's ICELP_EN.DLL.
Anyway, not sure why you are getting that message. You should just be able to copy it from another system if it's missing. Is your client running a current version of PRO?

Thanks for the reply Bob, and sorry it's been a while getting anything back on the board  (They are running versoin 5.1.07 of Pro.)

The missing .dll is indeed ICElp_en.dll   I now have the exact message which is:
'Failed to load language DLL:
C:\Documents and Settings\stores\startMenu\Programs\Startup\ICElp_en.dll'

That's fine because the file isn't in that directory (which is for a specific login on that machine) but it is in the /jriver/ICETCP5 directory.

I tried to get the guy to go into ICElp Configuration to see if he had the correct printer names and was pleased to be told that there was an error message on this now - he says it's along the lines of 'config exec not found or error'.

The whole of the unix side is fine and ICElp is working perfectly throughout the rest of the company (and I don't think there are any connectivity issues).

From all this I get the feeling that whoever did the install on his machine in the first place didn't get it quite right so I'm planning on re-installing.  I think this is the easiest first step as there was obviously a problem when it was first set up.

If all works out well, I'll post it on the board so that anyone else who gets similar will can have a reference.

Thanks again

Brett
