Title: internet connectablility
Post by: JBooth on May 19, 2005, 06:09:14 pm
I have been using ICE.Off.Site version 2.2 on an old PC with the windows 95 operating system and a direct phone line connection. My new computer uses the windows xp operating system and is has dsl and a wireless router connection. Can ICE.Off.Site be used through an internet connection or do I need to use the old direct phone line method. Also, do I need to update to the 3.0 version of ICE.Off.Site or will 2.2 run on windows xp.

2.2 is a 16 bit version. It is not supported on XP. If you want to use a network based connection, you should use PLUS or PRO. Off.Site doesn't support network connections. If you do use a network based connection, you need to take security into account. Either ssh with a static address on the client end or a secure VPN would be recommended.
