Title: ICE.TCP Plus
Post by: cstoncall on February 16, 2006, 02:52:04 pm
Hello -

I have a client using ICE.TCP Plus and when she tried opening the application this morning she received an error "winsock error".  She is unable to open the application now.  She has been using the application for some time now without fault.

She is running windows xp pro with service pack 2 and ICE.TCP Plus emulation version 7.10A32 Windows version 8.5.

Would someone know what might have caused this and how I could go about fixing the error to get her back up and running??

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

Either the unix machine she is trying to reach is now unreachable, dejawint is being blocked by the windows or third party firewall or the icetcpplus.ini file in the windows directory has gotten corrupted.

First try to connect to the host using windows telnet. If that doesn't work you have to debug your network connection. If it does work, check the windows firewall settings (or third party firewall if you have one). Add outgoing port 23 to exceptions if necessary.

Finally you can delete the icetcpplus.ini file in the windows directory and rerun dejawint. Note that if you do this you will lose your settings and have to reenter the host, terminal type, etc.
