Error when trying to open Dejawin???
« on: April 24, 2008, 08:10:07 am »

---------------------------
Deja Vu Configuration
---------------------------
Error opening serial port: COM3. Port already open,
non existant or bad.

Check that your port setting is correct in
your configuration or -p= command line parameter.

If this does not help, refer to your Windows
port settings in Windows Control Panel.

When complete run Dejawin again. (error # 2)

I am using J. River Ice.Ten version 4.7.12 running on a PC Window XP using serial port.

** I am using this for a usb serial port and spoke to dell and they said nothing is running in the background, maybe I should try to install software again, if that fails then reinstall operating system.  **

Any suggestions or ideas to fix.  I already unplug usb cable from computer and rebooted.
Thanks!!
Marcy

The error:
Error opening serial port: COM3. Port already open, non existent or bad.

Is telling you that:
1) You are trying to open COM3:
2) It can't be opened because:
3) It's already being used by another application, it doesn't really exist or is broken.

You can try looking in device manager at communication ports and see if you have a COM3:

Usually on newer machines, built-in modems are on COM1 or COM3.

You didn't mention what you are trying to use for a serial port.
