Screen goes green when you hit the "1" key
« on: February 19, 2009, 12:46:59 pm »

Dear Someone who can help me,

Our company is using Telnet TCP Pro Version 5.1.07 to connect to a UNIX server.

One user is experiencing a problem while only in a telnet session.

When this user is typing in information, her screen will all of a sudden go green especially when she presses the number one on the number pad of the keyboard.

I have already tested 3 keyboards on the system, and the last one is a brand new keybaord. I checked to see if the keyboard errors out on any other programs but they do not error out.

I tested to see if the PS/2 connections were faulty on the keyboard, and they are not.

This occurs only when the user is in Telnet TCP Pro and during a session.

To get rid of the green screen, the user simply uses her mouse to click on the application.

The user will often sign off and then sign back in and it will appear to work fine until the next occurence. I am at a lost for ideas at the moment so if someone could shed some light on this, that would be fantastic!

It's more annoying than anything.

Please Help,

Sincerely,

Curiously Fine.

Windows version is?
If Vista you probably need an upgrade to the current version.

A couple of things.
If it can be repeated with the number one key, it could simply be that the keylock is off when the user is hitting that key and that means the key is sending the escape sequence for the "end" key which the application on the unix machine may not like.

If not, you might have something funny going on with the video driver, try changing the color depth from 24/32 bits to 16 or vice-versa.

Finally, there may be a problem with some other app overwriting the mfc42.dll system library. The current version doesn't use that library. That kind of a long shot but to test it you could try running the 30 day ICE.TCP Pro demo on that machine.
