Can not create printer device
« on: July 11, 2005, 09:35:55 am »

We are running ICE TCP Plus build 25, and recently started getting an error messg. when printing that reads: "Can not create printer device, job was not accepted, please check the printer setup."  and from timt to time it will also read, "The handle is invalid"  but the print job does actually print, but everytime it does print we get these errors.  We are also running on the Win XP Pro platform.  Any ideas, any help is much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

What type of printing are you doing?
Ice.LP or Passthrough (escape sequence) printing?

Sorry for my ignorance, We are setup with ice, and the pc getting error messages. If physically connected to the printer with a parallel port connection, while the rest of the office prints from unix through ICE as if it were a network shared printer.  Thanks for responding!

It could be a problem with the hardware setup. You COULD try changing the printing method in local print setup to DIRECT to LPT1: and see if that makes a difference.
