I am using TCP Pro 5 on a Windows XP machine. I have a problem with 1 machine that the emulation seems to be wrong. I telnet to a Unix server and some of the characters on the screen so up as "q" instead of letter it should be. Also my F3 and F4 keys are not working. I have tried re-installing software and I have also exported Reg Key from a machine that TCP Pro is working on imported to problem machine and it still does not work. Is there something else I can try?

You exported the key HKCU->Software->J.River and imported it on the other machine, right??

Check the terminal emulation set in the profile you are using (probably default) in both machines. Also check the selected font (should be ICE437 for U.S.).

Check versions, are they the same or very close??

Yes I exported the Key. Terminal Emulation, fonts  and software version same on both machines.

Sounds like the unix machine thinks you have different terminal types on the 2 PC's.
On each, drop to a shell then do
echo $TERM

You need to do this using the login each person uses when logging into do their app (i.e. not having them both login as root).

(if you were to login in from both machines using the same login you obviously see the same terminal type from
echo $TERM
)

They both come up as ansi when you login as root or when you login as each user?

Try logging as root on both machines and running scoadmin and see if you get the line graphics on both machines.

when logged in on the trouble machine,
as the user that is having the problem,
at a shell,

do an
stty -a

paste the results into a reply.

I get essentially the same stty -a

Try these tests. Report ALL results:

On the "bad" pc, at a prompt, type in
hd
and hit enter. Then hit the F3 key, then the F4 key, then control-D until you get back to a prompt.
You'll get back a line of hex codes. Cut and paste them into your reply here.

Next type in
echo "\0251"
cut and paste the result into your reply here (describe it also, it should be either a corner graphic or a copyright symbol).

Ok, the results for F3 and F4 are correct. Those are the ansi keycodes.

The copyright symbol is NOT correct. You are getting a system font (probably courier), not the ICE437 font.

You should check your profile. You can try switching the font in the active profile and then try the
echo "\0251"
test again.

If that works, check to see that your default profile (or other profile if you are using something other than default) has the ICE437 font selected properly.

If switching it in the active profile doesn't work, you are either missing the ICE fonts or there is something wrong with your windows fonts directory (c:\windows\fonts), perhaps too many fonts.

In your windows fonts directory you should be able to find:

ICE 852
