Fatal ICE.TCP configuration error 888.
« on: March 13, 2013, 08:16:50 pm »

Please redirect me to the correct form, I'm new here and I don't know if this is where to post for
DejaVu TCP ICETCP 4.4 32 bit 4.4.28
Emulation Version: 7.10a/32
Windows Interface Version: 8.5

I want to VPN into the network and use ICE to get into the Unix server.
My own router gives me an address of 192.168.1.2.
I can use the Cisco QuickVPN_Client_1421 to connect to the network where the server resides.
I then have access to the 192.168.0.x network.
I start ICE.TCP and it gives me an error becuase it doesn't like the two networks (let's put two bugs in a jar and shake it up and see if they fight)!

Fatal ICE.TCP configuration error 888.
Please contact your system administrator.
This message was generated due to a conflict between
192.168.0.18 and 192.168.1.2
with sequence number 1
This DejaWinT session will be closed in approximately 1 minute.

I'm emulating a Wyse60, 8, none, 0
Host tab: Auto Select, Auto Connect, port 23, init string 00

You have 2 PCs using sequence #1.  Each PC must have a unique sequence number.

Thanks Deanna
I am new to Ice.TCP.  Thanks for you patience with this newbie.
Do I have to purchase additional sequence numbers?
How do I change the sequence number from #1 to #2, etc?

You will need one license for each PC.  If you have a single-user license of PLUS, you will need to purchase an upgrade to a 5-user license, or you could purchase a single-user license of PRO instead.  If by chance you have a 5-user license now, you can open File > Sequence Number and try changing the sequence number.  If you cannot change the sequence number to anything other than 1, you have a single-user license.

Error:  Winsock: connect failed

Meaning:  Means telnet failed to connect to the host.
Solution: Try connecting with Microsoft Telnet, to the host.
* The hostname or IP is invalid.
* The Windows Networking is not set-up correctly.

ICE connects fine when using on the internal network, so the program is configured properly.
It doesn't connect when we try from the outside using the Cisco Light VPN Client.
The VPN allows us to connect to other machines and sites within the 192.168.0.xxx network in the building, like printers, etc, using a browser.
Telnet won't connect using port 23 (the same port as ICE uses).
What could be blocking us?

Okay.  I clearly misread your previous post.  You have Pro, not PLUS.  How did you change the sequence number; does LicenseAdmin reflect both PCs having unique sequence numbers?

Deanna,
Newbie again here, sorry for the confusion, yes we have Pro.  Our CD has installations on it for TCP4 and TCP-Pro, and I have been trying to install it at my home to see if I can make it work.  Now reading your web site I can see that I can't do that without an admin server (right?).  How do I change the sequence number on a client PC?  What do I tell the installation when it looks for the User Install Files? Can I get phone support?  I plan to go on site tomorrow and put this thing to bed.  They have been trying for several months now and they hired me to be the silver bullet.  Poor me.

Yes, you certainly can call.  Yes, you do need an admin server.  The software is quite easy to install, if you have access to the admin server.

Can you give me the phone number?  What are the hours of operation?
