ICE TEN Printing Nightmares
« on: July 14, 2005, 09:26:33 am »

Ladies and Gentlemen;

Please see description for version number etc...

I seem to be having problems with a Machine that is part of a domain, and has Win XP Pro (SP2) installed and an attached Brother MFC 5200C on LPT1.

I can't seem to redirect the printer port properly, although I think I have run thru every possible scenario in an attempt to get this to print.

I've updated drivers on the printer, run DejaVu in several compatibility modes, running NET USE utility for printer networking, and redirecting the printer ports.  The user is a local administrator on the machine in question, therefore, userrights are not an issue.

What do I have to do to get this work?

You have an unsupported 16 bit version, see: http://yabb.jriver.com/ice/index.php?board=7;action=display;threadid=46

5200c is a Winprinter. http://www.brother.com/usa/fax/info/mfc5200c/mfc5200c_spe.html
Printing in all but the latest versions of ICE require a printer that can handle characters, like the PCL printing language.

There is some winprinter support but only in current versions.

Note that the 5200c has not gotten great reviews. http://reviews.cnet.com/Brother_MFC_5200c/4505-3181_7-20585332.html
