LPD THIS VERY SLOW ONE
« on: September 07, 2005, 11:59:38 am »

I have installed lpd in clients windows xp/2000 prof, when sending an impression work from unix, the work takes a long time too much in arriving at the station windows xp, it is a net LAN and WAN with a firewall CISCO  PIX that can be happening.

If you are going over a WAN and you're printing graphics the print job can take a long time, the WAN is probably 20-100 times slower than your LAN.

I am not sending impression works with graphics, but if they should go by a firewall cisco, not you that port should enable for the service lpd in my firewall.

Could be a DNS timeout. Are you using MS LPD or the LPD from ICE? If you are using the ICE LPD, try the windows one instead. Note that any version of LPD only works with STATIC IP addresses.

LPD uses a range of ports. Traditionally 515 to 521
