Winsock:Connect failed
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:42:38 pm »

I'm getting the above mentioned Winsock error.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled Ice-TCP, upgraded to SP2 and IE 7, with no results.  Funny thing though, I can ping any PC on the network, including the unix server, and FTP works fine.  What is the problem?

That error usually means that you are getting a connection rejected.
It usually comes from the server but can also come from a firewall between you and the server OR any windows firewall you have installed. You should check the firewall settings and add an exception for dejawint or port 23. Also check to see if you have a third party firewall you will probably have to do the same with it.

You can always use ms telnet to test the connection:

start->run
type in telnet and the ip address and hit enter.
