Using UCOPY with IBM RS6000 Unix Machine
« on: August 12, 2008, 04:03:13 pm »

Trying to use UCOPY from Dejawin (version 4.7) and I get message "can't run remote ucopy."  I have tried installing the ucopy file to my unix machine into directory /usr/bin.  I see the ucopy file there, have made it executable, but I still cannot get it to execute.  There are more than 1 ucopy commands on the ICE-TEN CD (ucopy.exe, ucopy.unix, ucopy) and I think I have tried them all.

Help??

First thing to try is running the program directly. Type enter 'ucopy' at the Unix prompt. (This is basically what the program is trying to do--with parameters added.) See if you get a useful error message (ie file not found, can't access, etc), if it works, you should get something like a copyright message and usage instructions. If it's the wrong binary for your Unix (or Linux) it won't run. I think the CD includes different directories for different OS's. When you find the correct one, it should be renamed if necessary to ucopy--the manual includes all the necessary instructions.

Hope this helps,

Jim
