I remember asking about this a year or so ago, back when Chromecast was still in its infancy but now the idea of throwing to a chromecast or apple TV seems to have really caught on. For us MC users that means switching our TVs or Receivers away from our HTPCs to the other device. I know there must be IP/legal/licensing and massive technical challenges, but I wonder if it is even feasible for MC to pretend to be a Chromecast device? If so it would do a lot to keep the HTPC at the center of the living room for many of us.
