I have MC20 into a Cary DAC> Modwright preamp> Hypex monoblocks. USB cable is Audiocadabra (double headed).
The weakest link is the Intel Atom (upgraded to all of 2Gb RAM
) Gigabyte, which is all I can afford after other electrical bits and bobs failed.
I couldn't get the laptop to "see" the streamlength drivers I needed to install. Mailed Cary. Their tech's opinion was that the usb input on the DAC failed.
Was away for a couple of weeks and just tried again on a whim and voila- installed, sound preferences set on laptop Sound and JRiver (Cary Audio Wasapi).
However no sound and boy, I am loath to unplug anything.
Also, click on Playing Now and I only get "Player".
I restarted JRiver, tried "Audio only" setting...
Restarted laptop. Jeez!
No Cary Audio visible in Sound or JRiver audio option.
Try the install wizard and it says Streamlength already installed.
Try installing and of course it can't "see" the Cary DAC anymore. As before.
Oh, I did previously have the same issue with a relatively new i5/ SSD laptop (wouldn't "see" the DAC).
The DAC works fine on Coax and was working fine via Optical until today when my buggy WDTV thingy also became invisible- to both laptops (it was part of my network). Wasted hours there, before trying the USB again.
Any/ all help would be much appreciated. Please use layman's terms as I am no computer guy.
