408 files erased!!!
« on: September 05, 2003, 04:46:06 pm »

I was trying to analyze some audio files today, when I encountered a file that had been moved, and the old placeholder was still there.  I tried to erase the old file location, but instead, Media Center began to erase ALL 2109 files in the folder!!  I stopped it from doing so, and I was able to recover most of them from the recycle bin.  All but the first 408.  Has anyone experienced something like this?  When prompted with what to do with the file to erase, I selected delete from Media Library and send to Recycle Bin.  Shouldn't all the files have gone to the recycle bin?

I'm very bummed out...some of those files were rare downloads.

there are limits

when using norton utilities you can change the size of the norton protected bin to how many gigs to use.

i am not sure if there is a setting in windows to change the windows recycle bin.

it sounds like you had them all marked when you pressed delete.

There is: Right klick on "recycle bin". Then you have a window with several registers, wich allows you to conigure the relative hard disk space used for recycle bin for each drive or for all the drives together.
The only reason to use Norton for configuring the recycle bin is (as far as I know), a limitation wich limitats the recycle bin to 3,99 GB in windows. With Norton ist also can be bigger sized (I think)

I shouldn't say this as I've only started doing this in the last six months but backing up is a good habit to get into.

I've got a cool program that I learned about here called Karen's Replicator that does it for me automatically every night at 1am.
