Setting up links
«
on:

I don't understand how to use the links set-up page. Why cannot I simply enter the URL? This is the kind of interface I want.
I am an avid audiophile and so far have resisted all servers that don't offer JRiver , but I want some simplicity in return.
I am trying to establish a link to Lyrics.com. I should be able to enter "lyrics.com" and that is all.

Links are designed to allow you to automate lookups depending on the file(s) selected in MC. They are more than just bookmarks (which, it would seem, would be easier to accomplish by just making a bookmark in your web browser).
Therefore, creating them is a bit more complex than just typing in a URL. You have to enter a Search URL and tell it what fields to use (from the currently selected file) to search.
This thread contains all the details you need:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83371.0/
It also contains templates you can just copy/paste in for both Absolute Lyrics and Songmeanings.com further down.

Thanks. I'll try to use the templates. My experience with absolute lyrics is that it has mostly current tunes. At age 68, I want some oldies as well, which is why I like Lyrics.com. Hopefully Songmeanings will serve me what I need.

Maybe this will make you want to
Walk Like A Man
. You might put on your
Blue Suede Shoes
first though.

Suwheet! I tried Girl from Ipanema successfully. Looks like we have a winner.

Thanks to all who helped - now have Songmeanings on 2 PCs - just got lyrics for "I Don't Like Mondays" - another reason I like JRiver.

I find this thread very satisfying. OP came in a little frustrated, wanted simplicity. You guys came in and helped OP step up his game. Now he's taken advantage of one of the less intuitive, but powerful, features.

If you still want one for Lyrics.com, I made one for you and posted it to the other thread here:

I really prefer Songmeanings, though, and their website isn't crappy and doesn't do crappy ad-related things.
