Make sure that you have the dmraid package installed and then reboot.
sudo apt-get install dmraid
Your drives should be automounted on startup now. If not, report back.
Greetings:
I installed dmraid with success. Then rebooted, no luck.
Here is a brief sypnosis of these external RAID boxes:
Type - Mediasonic model HFR2-SU3S2 ProRAid 4 bay. This unit is hardware raid.
I have two units recognized by Ubuntu 15.10 as dev/sdd, dev/sde. Under Windows 8/10 with MC, no issues, drives are seen as "I", and "F" under the explorer on MC underneath the tree, everything performed as expected.
also I have two 2TB Seagate drives in external box, I use these two drives for my Makemkv conversions. These are drives "j" and "K".
There are a few mkv files on one of the Seagate drives, Ubuntu has no problem mounting these drives.
After installing the dmraid with success, under "disks" in Ubuntu, it sees the two RAID boxes as usual, then it reports RAID boxes are empty, or un-allocated space, which is scary. I know fully well under Windows, my libraries for audio and video with mkv files are there, over 730 Bluray movies. The raid are set up s RAID level 5 vol 1 and 2.
I went online to read about dmraid, I also tried to invoke or load them by using dmraid -R raid_set, dmraid -r, dmraid -ay. I get error- unsupported sector type 4096.
What I am thinking now is Ubuntu wants me to format the RAID boxes maybe after this, it will be able to mount them. This is a "maybe"
I still have two of this Mediasonic boxes unused, I am thinking of putting 4tb drives, used the boxes as JBOD assuming I am not able to get the RAID box to work with Ubuntu 15.10 Unity.
Also , note that I am using all RAID boxes as storages, no OS.
Thanks.
George
