Subtitle problem with mpg2 movie
« on: November 24, 2015, 01:05:33 pm »

I made a DVD backup of a movie from my collection including original subtitles, video and audio.
In the VLC player everything works fine but in MC (of course player of choice) it is not possible tho choose any subtitle.

Measures conducted so far in MC:

- Turned video subtitles in video options to always on
- deleted the tag 'Playback Info' as described in another link referring to subtitle problems

but that didn't work out.

I use a Computer to watch the movie, no TV. MC is updated to 21.0.23.

Help is highly appreciated! Thx!

When your watching the movie use the UP-DWN buttons on remote (or right click on screen with mouse) to get to the popup menu. Then go to "Subtitles" (or maybe it's "Streams") and select the one with the subtitles you want. Once you do that, MC will remember that setting for the next time.

What kind of "rips" are you making (mkv, ifo,?) or are you playing a physical disk?

That was fast...

I used a DVD ripping software to do the backup and saved the file as *.mpg.
There are no subtitles to pick the way you described, and it shows 'off'.

Strange thing is that in VLC everything is available.

Did you go to Tools>Options>Video>"Subtitles & Languages" and set your default audio language (i.e. English) and then set the subtitle mode?

Yes, default subtitle and audio language is set to English.
