Embedding Cover Art
« on: December 29, 2015, 09:30:20 pm »

Why do some FLAC files save an image to the file itself IE embed into the file, while others get placed into an external referenced folder?
Is there a rhyme or reason to this that I am missing?

Its most frustrating. I want all my files embedded.

Thanks,

XJ

If you have the option checked, every time MC saves cover art, it should write it into the FLAC file.  As long as you have WRITE permission on that file, MC should succeed.  If it does not succeed, it should give an error message.

The relevant option is:  Tools > Options > Files Location > Cover Art > Also store image in the file's tag > (checked)

I'm also using the "in same folder as the file" option, which means I have one .JPG file named with the Artist and Album in the same folder as the songs for each album.

How do you know the cover art isn't stored in the FLAC files?

BTW, I just tested a little something.  I removed the cover art from an album using an external tagger to clear the embedded cover art.  MC still sees it after, because the JPG is still in the folder.

I found that if I ran Update Tags (from library), MC re-wrote all of the tags, including the embedded cover art.  I verified that the art had been embedded again, using the same external tagger.  Maybe this technique can help you.
